U14 Tryouts Announced for 2nd Half of Season!!

Thursday, December 4, 2014, 1:35PM

Lovell Hockey will be holding a tryout for the second half of the season, for players interested in joining our U14 Program.  We have openings in Hingham, Raynham, and East Boston for the Boston Advantage, Lovell Knights, and Advantage ICE teams.

  • Tryout Date: 12/5/14
  • Tryout Time: 7:00 PM
  • Tryout Location: Pilgrim Arena (Hingham) Rink A
  • Tryout Cost: $25.00

The program offers 1 rigorous skill session per week conducted by the popular and professional staff of Lovell's Hockey School, with a strict regime of skating mechanics, speed training, puck handling and shooting. There is 1 competitive practice per week where the focus is on 1on1s, 2on1s, 3on2s, 3on3s, 2on2s, battle drills, etc, and 1 team concept practice per week with a focus on the power play, the penalty kill, defensive zone coverage, neutral zone regroups, face offs, etc. The program also offer 2 off-ice strength & conditioning sessions that focus on strength, flexibility, power, movement and skill and are run by Boothby Performance in Hingham.

The teams will all play in the Boston Hockey League/Elite 9 Hockey League, as well as various in-house games against our own clubs on specific Saturdays & Sundays throughout the season. Each team will also play in a 1-2 competitive tournaments as part of the program. Last year, our U14 program played one game a week against one of the other four teams involved.  This year, they will recieve similar in-house games and value, in addition to being full fledged members of the Bantam Major Division of the Elite 9/Boston Hockey League.

Additionally, selected players will be offered the chance to represent the Boston Advantage All-Stars at the most competitive and prestigious tournaments throughout the US. Past tournaments have included the Bauer Invite, T1EHL U14 Showcase, Team Comcast Super Series, the Eaglebrook Tournament, Labor Day Tier 1 Faceoff, Silver Sticks and the Toronto Marlies Christmas Tournament to name a few. We travel as a team so the players mature as young elite players on and off the ice. Everyone will be considered, but those selected by the staff of Lovell's Hockey School will be the ones who have demonstrated their elite status, who have fully grasped the concepts taught and who have worked the hardest. All Star participation is an additional cost. We will attend a few of All-Star tournaments so the goal of all players is to strive to be selected for them.

Players who have played in the U14 Program have committed to colleges such as Harvard, Dartmouth, Maine, Boston College, and Boston University. The program is developing the future now! There are several other top players playing at their varsity prep-private school, top public/catholic school and our well known T1EHL midget program.

Practices will be at the Pilgrim Skating Arena in Hingham for the Boston Advantage, Raynham IcePlex for the Lovell Knights, and Porrazzo in East Boston for the Advantace ICE. Games will be played at the Pilgrim Skating Arena in Hingham, the Raynham Iceplex, and Porrazo Rink in East Boston for the in-house matchups, and either at home or at our league opponent's venue for the Elite 9/Boston Hockey League games.
